Hello, November

It’s hard to believe it’s already November. I’m looking forward to what God has planned for this new month, though.

In November, I hope to:

*Make new art.
*Create fearlessly in my art journal.
*Live with a heart that reflects this.
*Keep learning how to trust Him more.
*Spend lots of time with family and friends.
*Join a book club.
*And start getting in the holiday spirit. (It’s time, you know—Starbucks has unleashed the red cups, so it has to be, right?) ;-)

And just for fun (since Halloween was yesterday), here are a few pics of my Halloween costume:

Happy November to you! What are your goals/hopes/dreams for this new month?

October Inspiration

As a follow-up to my Fall Loves post, here’s a little peek at what’s been inspiring me this month:

hot cider & coffee (gorgeous images via A Beautiful Mess)

Fifties cat-eye glasses (image via Etsy)

A few of my favorite October moments:

Drinking hot apple cider; visiting apple orchards with friends; going on a little weekend getaway with family; carving pumpkins; indulging in some new yummy fall candles/soaps for the fall and winter months, making pumpkin-ricotta stuffed shells; exploring some new creative dreams in my idea journal; and gathering supplies to start a new art journal.

I’m thinking about doing a post like this at the end of every month, a little recap of sorts—inspired by Elsie of A Beautiful Mess and Kyla Roma.

I hope the last few days of your October are lovely.

Here’s to fall + October goodness!

Weekending: Fall Festivities

I spent another beautiful weekend celebrating all things fall with a girls’ night trip to a local apple orchard; pumpkin picking and carving; and lots of delicious fall snacks (apple crisp, apple slices with sweet and salty caramel, banana chocolate chip muffins, pumpkin cookies, apple cider, etc. Yummo, right?) ;) It was a great girls’ night!

I love fall festivities. Do you have any favorite fall traditions? I’m still looking to add a new one to my list.

Today, the sun is out, and my heart is full.

Weekending: Apple Cider & Black-and-white Memories

How did the first weekend in October treat you?

My weekend was low-key and cozy, so I can’t complain. :)

I spent some time dreaming up new ideas for artwork. I worked in my idea journal, sorted through black-and-white photos to see what stories they’d inspire, and enjoyed mugs of hot apple cider, (of course!).

I also already checked something off of my 28 Things list:

10. Make a new pumpkin dish (perhaps a pumpkin lasagna or stuffed shells). I made Pumpkin-Ricotta Stuffed Shells (from a recipe in my newest Country Living magazine).

So, all in all, it was a good fall weekend.

I’ll be back soon to share a scripture selection for the week.

Stay cozy,

HeARTed: Fall Loves & Inspirations

Now that it’s officially my favorite season, I thought it was time for another HeARTed feature. So, here’s a little list of some of my current fall loves and inspirations:

These AMAZING boots from Born Shoes (they have velvet laces!). They’re most definitely on my fall wish list. ;-)

* Colored tights

(like this cute mustard pair Elsie’s wearing)

* This gorgeous art illustration from Penelope Dullaghan

* Apple cider (always a favorite!)

* Making a fall playlist & reading list

* This Fern Green Diana Camera from Modcloth

* Bright skirts (like this one from Rachel Denbow)

…or this one from A Beautiful Mess

* Collecting black-and-white vintage photos for upcoming collage paintings

What are you loving this season?

A Quiet Heart

Proverbs 8:34-35
(NIV)

Blessed are those who listen to me,
watching daily at my doors,
waiting at my doorway.
For those who find me find life
and receive favor from the LORD.

* * *

This week, I want to take time to truly quiet my heart and just listen—making space to hear from the Lord, so I’m better able to follow his direction for my days.

Lately, I’ve been spending more time in the Word and journaling, which has helped me to focus on staying rooted. I’m also continuing my study of the Proverbs 31 woman. I want to make the most of this season, learning and growing and becoming more of the woman God has created me to be.

I hope you all had a wonderful fall weekend! I found some pumpkin bagels this afternoon at the grocery store, and I’m pretty excited to enjoy one tomorrow morning. A little pumpkin goodness is the perfect way to start a Monday, if you ask me. ;)

Treasure*hunting

Yesterday, I spent the day brunching, antiquing, and catching up with my friend Kristin. Because we no longer live in the same city, it had been more than a year and half since I last saw her! (Way too long!) So, we picked a small town about halfway between our two cities and planned a day of exploring and vintage treasure hunting.

I met up with Kristin, her husband Paul, and their adorable four-month old little girl at a small diner near the highway, where we chatted and, of course, enjoyed some delicious food. The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring the little shops and antique malls downtown.

I’m kind of wishing I would have taken the teal suitcase home with me, but I did come home with two vintage treasures: a white Avon owl and a charming black-and-white photo of a woman in a big fancy hat.

In addition to stacks of colorful suitcases, I spotted quite a few typewriters. I couldn’t resist snapping a few photos. :)

We also stopped for coffee at the cutest little coffee place. I got my regular, of course: a caramel soy latte. :)

It was the perfect afternoon.

……

Right now, I’m taking a break from painting and listening to a newly discovered band, The Ember Days. (Really loving the song Dreaming!)

Aren’t these lyrics lovely?

As dreams turn to hopes
And hope turns to prayers
Dreams come true

Before I sign off for the evening, let me leave with you with a verse of scripture that’s been on my heart the last few days.

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Romans 12:12

Hope your Sunday has been beautiful and blessed,

K

*Saturday Inspirations

1. Untitled, 2. Polaroid

(Loving all the fall photos @ Flickr.com. The typewriter shot is so dreamy and beautiful.)

The wind is blowing outside, and I’m gearing up for another afternoon and evening of art making. :) It’s the perfect fall day to be cozy inside, surrounded by paints and papers.

How will you be spending your Halloween weekend? I never did get around to painting the pumpkins and gourds I have out on my porch. Oh, well. They still look cute all lined up. :) How did you decorate this fall? If you have photos on your blog or Flickr, please leave me a link in the comments section. I’d love a peek!

Before I go, let me leave you with a little fall fashion inspiration from the blog What I Wore.

I love her style. It’s chic—yet effortless. :) (And that bag is FANTASTIC!)

I’m in my painting clothes today, so while I’m cozy, I’m far from stylish. ;-)

P.S. I’m sorry I didn’t post a Vintage-inspired Fridays feature this week. I’ll be sure to find something extra lovely to share with you next Friday.

Wishing you a cozy, inspired Saturday,

K
