The Perfect Fall Supper

My grandmother’s chili recipe was just the thing on this cool fall evening.

Grandma Dotty’s Chili

1lb. hamburger

1/2 cup diced onion

1 can diced tomatoes

1 small can of tomato sauce

1 can of chili beans

1 tablespoon chili powder

1 tablespoon paprika

a pinch of brown sugar

Cook the hamburger and the onion together in a pan until the hamburger is completely cooked. Combine all ingredients and simmer in a crock pot on low. (You can also just warm on the stovetop, but I prefer the taste after it’s been simmering in the crock pot for about eight or nine hours.)

Top with sharp cheddar cheese and enjoy with buttered cornbread fresh from the oven.
